The 150-book-a-day habit

July 13, 2016 By Dan Danbom

And you think YOU buy a lot of books... For most of us, book collections are small, personal representations of our tastes, interests and budget.  But there was a time when book collections were a public representation of ego, wealth and acquisitiveness.  It was the golden age of book collecting. The late 19th … [Read more...]

The mystery of Readers Digest

June 25, 2016 By Andrea Nelson

You don't have to spend much time around books before you run into copies of Readers Digest Condensed Books -- lots and lots of copies.  Like the magazine from which they took their name, the Readers Digest Condensed Books were hugely popular.  But we've always wondered why.  Isn't a good book something you want to … [Read more...]

When booking passage also meant the passing of books

April 7, 2016 By Dan Danbom

April 12 is the anniversary of the sinking of the Tittanic.  Thirty-seven months later, the Lusitania was torpedoed and sunk.  Coincidentally, each sinking had rare-book related aspects that reverberate to this day.  One of the Titanic passengers was Henry Elkins Widener.  Widener was a noted collector of rare books … [Read more...]

What a wonderful gem of a bookstore! I found some serious treasures and could have spent all day there. I didn't catch the curator's name but she was fabulous and friendly. I also hadn't been to a book co-op before; each seller's collection here was well organized and worth exploring. I have to extend thanks and praise to the gentleman with the H.P. Lovecraft paperbacks: I will definitely be reaching out for future shipments.

Every time I walk into this lovely hidden gem of a shop I am greeted warmly. The selection of fine editions and other hardbacks is extensive to say the very least. Without question, The Printed Page is the best place to buy books in Denver! They also have rare first editions and signed editions in the glass cases and there’s always something new and noteworthy. Plan an afternoon and go browse the shelves! You won’t regret it.

Some of the best service I have ever received! Knowledgeable about book collecting and willing to share that knowledge with me. Very helpful in locating volumes I am looking for. They alert me when they receive books I my be interested in, something I appreciate very much. Simply put, a joy to work with.
